THE ZERO POINT
IS A POINT IN CONSCIOUSNESS
FROM WHERE ALL THINGS STEM
IT IS THE INFINITE SILENCE
FROM WHICH
ALL POSSIBILITIES MAY ARISE
THE ZERO POINT
IS THE PLACE FROM WHERE
WE OURSELVES
ARE INFINITELY ALIGNED
WITH THE CREATION
OF THIS MOMENT

The Underlying Premise
Zero Point is a held group which uses a wide variety of meditative, movement and theatrical techniques as the foundation for exploring and expressing creativity.
Our creative practice can emerge as a conversation between different facets of our human-ness and different expressions of creative language; from bodies, thoughts, hearts to musicians, writers, artists .. one begins by leading the other .. the other responding and in turn taking the lead.
Working from the hidden and the seen,
Working with the individualities within the group,
Moving with an evolving focus which contains both the individuals and the whole.

Zero Point works with the strengths of each individual in the group,
Encouraging held exploration into new territory and moving with the innate areas of skill which emerge.
The space is filled with tools and pathwork for healing, realization, growth, discovery, empowerment and connection.
Being with the ever changing constellation of the moment
And all that we are.

Review by Kris Paul : Writer and Actor

"If you had to label Zero Point you would call it Community Theatre. But that brings to mind Amateur Dramatics and that description Simply Will Not Do.
A bit like Engels definition of the proletariat, the Zero Point participant base is drawn from all segments of society. Full time arts professionals, theatre and arts grads with a history until life took them out of the game, talented enthusiasts, and nervous first timers. Using ice breakers, and devising techniques drawn from physical theatre, and gentle meditation exercises, the idea is to forget what you think you might know about performance, and let silence and the raw dynamics of rapport take over. The good bits from what emerges, diamond little moments, dances, freeze frames, and montages, can then be polished and refined through exploration. Weekly attendance breeds trust, familiarity, and confidence in your ability to improvise with the scantest of guidelines. Minimalist invitations to improvise that can go anywhere. In many ways engaging with Zero Point is as liberating as it is terrifying. This is because risk is embedded in the process, and the rewards and pay off when it all comes together are significant."
"If you are looking to devise original physical theatre, open to explore, and are comfortable with at least one limb in then avant garde, then Zero Point is for you.
To run what is effectively an improv drop in project as artistically ambitious as this takes a rare skill set. It requires the generosity to let actors engage fully, and the cruel precision of a surgeon critic surgeon to curtail the inane before it takes over. As Spinal Tap once said there is an thin line between clever and... stupid. And Anu Renne can detect this line in a flash. She brings wonders out of the group. And as a relatively experienced performance artist and poet she's allowed me to actually trust in my sense of depth and humour. Unfurl latent energy.
Bring forth what is with you and what you bring forth shall save you."

Facilitator
Anu Renne has travelled Europe and the UK facilitating empowerment & integrative theatre projects with adults, children and fringe groups.
She is a co-founder of BoatHouse Arts CIC (York), working with a multi-disciplinary of artists to create integrative arts and theatre, developmental experiences and performances.
Amongst the influences for Renne's work are Augusto Boal, Mike Leigh, Human 2.0 and many more who have succeeded in evoking great personal, collective and spiritual transformations with the positive impact of their artistry.
Renne is a writer, playwright, artist, visionary, activist for positive change, healing practitioner, meditation teacher, team leader, team member and solo parent.
ZERO POINT methods are deeply intuitive, in relation with the present moment and all that is in the room.
Renne will collaborate with different facilitators in different projects, namely dance artists, musicians, community arts practitioners and writers.
With access to a diverse tool kit of trainings and experience, ZERO POINT is a weaving of all of the above mentioned elements and more..
